AMSHeR welcomes the appointment of Berry Didier Nibogora to the Board of the Developing Country NGO Delegation of the Global Fund

JOHANNESBURG – The African Men for Sexual Health and Rights [AMSHeR] congratulates Mr. Berry Didier Nibogora, Attorney at Law and AMSHeR’s Law and Human Rights Advocacy Manager on his appointment to the Board of the Developing Country NGO Delegation of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The NGO Delegation aims to contribute to and influence The Global Fund policies and practices in an ‘effort to make them continually and appropriately responsive to the needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Non -Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Faith Based Organisations (FBOs).’

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria mobilises and invests nearly US$4 billion a year to support programmes run by local experts in countries and communities most- in-need. As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and people affected by the diseases, The Global Fund is accelerating the end of AIDS, TB and malaria as epidemics.

AMSHeR’s health programming prioritises strengthening of regional advocates, coordination of members’ and partners in-country response, to MSM health needs, particularly in regards to HIV and MSM living with HIV, and advocates across the coalition and with other regional and international networks to promote the development of policy, guidelines, programmes and health care and support services for African MSM.

AMSHeR is now represented on the Non-Governmental Organisations [NGO] Delegation Boards of both the Global Fund ATM and UNAIDS.
